Our Mission
AIDS Walk Long Beach brings awareness to our communities and supports local organizations providing services to those impacted by HIV.

Since its founding in 1988 and the first walk on March 12, 1989, AIDS Walk Long Beach raised millions of dollars to support those most vulnerable and in need whom Long Beach-based organizations serve. Participants raised money to fund critical HIV prevention and support services, including free condoms, HIV and STI testing, food pantry support, case management, PrEp and PEP counseling, medication support, primary medical care, and social and support groups in multiple languages.

AIDS Walk Long Beach 2021 will return to an in-person, live event on the walking path right on the shore here in Long Beach. The walk is 5-kilometers or 3.1-miles, and participants have the choice to walk or run the route. All participants will get morning snacks, coffee, juice, and water at the start/finish of the event, with a water stop at the turn-around point.

With COVID-19 and the recent guideline changes related to current variants, the walk will offer an alternative, virtual walk to provide an additional option for those most vulnerable to the virus. Local routes throughout Long Beach will be available for participants to walk at their own pace and time. More details of additional paths that allow for physical distancing will be shared soon.

Each participant who registers is encouraged to fundraise towards our collective goal each year. Swag items for the top fundraisers will be presented at the event's start or picked up at the Center the weekend of the walk. Funds collected will support The LGBTQ Center Long Beach's health programs and services and local agencies that provide services for people impacted by HIV. There will be no minimum fundraising total for participants; however, monies raised by individuals or private teams will support the Center's mental health programs, legal services, transgender primary healthcare, older adult programming, youth and family services activities, and the numerous social and support groups.
